Hanson Treasurer/Assessor office closed Friday

Hanson's Treasurer/Collector’s office will be closed on Friday, May 18. Payments may be dropped off in the secured boxes found at the side entrance of town hall or in front of the office.

 
School Committee revisits youth football bills, OKs new regulations

Youth football leagues in Whitman and Hanson have agreed to pay revised bills for the 2011 fall season use of high school fields at a rate of $27 per hour for custodial services, with administrative fees waived.

Budget picture worries W-H students

Whitman offers Assistant Town Administrator job

Whitman Selectmen Tuesday unanimously voted to offer the position of assistant town administrator – subject to reference checks and successful contract negotiation – to Brockton native Gregory Enos, who now works as a neighborhood planner with the Community Development office in New Bedford.

Whitman water main flushing program to begin

Whitman OKs DPW project debt exclusion, school assessment

Whitman voters Monday night approved a debt exclusion for the proposed $9.3 million Department of Public Works (DPW) building, a Proposition 2 ½ override for schools and a new local meals tax to help the town raise future revenue. The debt exclusion and override will both be subject to town election votes — the DPW project on the Saturday, May 19 ballot and the school override in a special election slated for Saturday, June 16.

Whitman looks to special election on school budget

Whitman voters will head to the polls for a second time on Saturday, June 16 — this time to cast votes in a special Town Election on a proposed increase in the town’s assessment to Whitman Hanson Regional Schools, or $698,736. For an average home value of $264,492, that is about $89 a year or les than $23 per quarterly tax bill — and less than $2 per week.
