Boys basketball advances
Written by Justin Graeber

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead against the Quincy Presidents on Wednesday night at the high school and never looked back.

The Panthers won handily after going on a 11-0 run to start the game, thanks to some key three pointers from TJ Champignie. They were up by double digits throughout the night and finished with a score of 74-49. The Panthers got 25 points from Champignie, and senior center Jason Vancura put in a strong performance with 13 points. But it wasn't the scoring that pleased head coach Bob Rodgers, rather the effort on the other end.

“Defensively we're playing really well right now,” he said after the game. “Everybody knows we can score ... we've got to be able to make stops.”

The boys will take on the next round's opponent Friday, 7 p.m. at the high school.
