An East Bridgewater man who stabbed a Whitman resident Monday evening has been arrested. A police cruiser patrolling the area of Colebrook Boulevard came across an altercation between two men. A stabbing had occurred at approximately 11 p.m., according to Chief Christine May-Stafford. The officer requested an ambulance and additional cruisers to come to the scene. Whitman Fire and Rescue responded, treated the victim, Anthony Gargano, 22, of Whitman, and transported him to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Gargano was later transferred to a Boston area hospital due to the severity of his injuries. On Wednesday, Whitman Police arrested Brian Hayes, 32, on a warrant for assault to murder, assault & battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault & battery. Whitman Police along with East Bridgewater Police and a Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit arrested Mr. Hayes without incident at his residence at 917 Plymouth Street, East Bridgewater. The warrant had been requested after an investigation by Whitman Police determined he stabbed Gargano. Hayes was booked and transported to Brockton District Court for arraignment. He was held on $5,000 bail. |
