Woody’s restaurant will become Venus III after the Board of Selectmen officially approved the transfer of liquor license during a public hearing at their meeting Tuesday at Town Hall. Selectmen voted 4-0 in favor with chairman James Egan sitting as a member of the public during the hearing because he is an abutter to the property.

New owners Stephen and David Drosopoulos also own Venus II in Brant Rock, and hope to bring a similar atmosphere to Hanson with “more of a sports bar theme.” The owners also said they want to be visible members of the community and help the local sports organizations.

“[In Marshfield,] we work with the football team and wrestling team,” David Drosopoulos said. “We’d like to get involved with [Hanson] and we hope to build a relationship with the community.”

Also during the meeting:

• Selectmen voted 5-0 in favor of renewing Class II auto dealer licenses for Auto Express and Clean Car Automotive.

• Selectman Steve Amico agreed to represent the board at the annual MMA Conference.

• Selectmen voted 5-0 in approval of Town Administrator Rene Read’s plan to share the purchase of a jet rodder with Pembroke.

• Read said he has received all budget reports from town departments except the senior center and Board of Assessors and will begin meeting with his financial team on a regular basis.

• Read reminded the board that construction on the Winter Street bridge on the town line with Hanover will begin soon and traffic will be cut down to one line.

• Read announced plans for a “comprehensive” study of Hanson’s technology needs.

• Read thanked Dick Harris and the DPW for their work clearing the roads after the recent snowstorms.

• Selectmen announced vacancies on the Board of Assessors and Finance Committee.

• Selectmen adjourned into executive session for the purposes of collective bargaining.
